Whenever we have guests and we need to treat them
somewhere that is unique to Baguio, Good Taste is always on our list. And most
times when it is a big group, it is the default. TP just loves the food and the
very affordable prices. He always orders the Garlic Buttered Chicken and Crispy
Pata while I love their Beef Steak (no sauce type but the meat marinade is
good).
As I remember, Good Taste started in its Centermall
branch. This branch has 2 floors and is always full of both dine-in and to-go customers.
Due to the many diners in this restaurant, the upholstered sofas is a normal scene
in Good Taste; you will see the customers either waiting for their turn at the
tables or anticipating their take home goods. This is also probably the reason
why they put up their 2nd branch in Otek Street. We often dine
in the newer branch, which is around three times the floor area (per floor) and
with at least 3 floors.
Since it is in Baguio, you can expect that the
vegetables are always fresh and given generously.
They also offer classic dishes (for oldies yet
goodies) such as Pata Tim, Lomi, etc.
In terms of menu, Good Taste is a cross between Chinese and Filipino cuisine.
The food is good and plenty for its price; it can indeed
feed a group. I recall TP telling me that when Good Taste Otek branch
opened, they served food for free for an entire day. Imagine how many people
they were able to feed for a day!! I’m sure that made a lot of people happy! Good
Taste is also one of the first restaurant options of locals during family
gatherings and special events.
If you are eating solo, you can go with their snacks (pancit, mami, cakes, etc.) or rice toppings. If with a small group, there
are half orders and for a big group, there’s always the full order.
Good Taste Restaurant is open 24 hours, perfect for
tourists who will arrive at ungodly hours or people who have just come from a
party (or even an after party).
