Living Art: White House Beach Resort La Union

We are blessed to have spent the weekend in the once private rest house that is White House Beach Resort in Bauang, La Union.

This is our second time in White House with TP's friends from work. Just an hour away from Baguio City, it is one of the many go-to resorts in the area. La Union and Pangasinan have suddenly become a quick trip from Manila mainly because of the construction and opening of some parts of TPLEx.

We rented again the south room in the main house - good for 14pax at P12,000. I consider this a good deal since booking one of the big rooms also means that you get the main house for yourself. The main house has 2 big rooms (the north and south rooms) aside from another room at the ground floor, spacious balconies, living and dining areas. It is directly connected to the fully-equipped kitchen. Book another room in the tower for 2pax at P3,000 and you have the entire resort exclusive to you. A night’s stay includes free breakfast for each person.

(Please note that you only get to sleep in the rooms that you book, not all the rooms on the resort. Getting the main house means having exclusive access to the living and dining areas.)

During our first stay, we were able to meet the owners of the resort. I keep on thinking that it is very generous of them to share this relaxing sanctuary to the public. I long to have a rest house similar to theirs, and to be able to invite family and friends anytime. The caretakers are always very accommodating to our requests and questions.

At times, you get treats such as fishermen selling their fresh catch (shrimps, crabs, squid) and seeing boat races during their local fiesta. We arrived March 21, 2015 at 1030am, just in time to witness lots of people in the shoreline, rooting for the different banca entries. After the race, adults and kids enjoyed the long stretch of Bauang beach.

The beach is not directly accessible from the resort but it is less than a hundred steps away from the resort’s side gate that it really does not matter.
